The Story Of the Shirt
In 1983, I discovered the airbrush in a printmaking class. It became my medium of choice for over 15 years. This giant doodling device allowed me to take my art to the streets, bypassing galleries and museums, making my art accessible to all.
I helped raise two wonderful children by hand-painting T-shirts and selling them on the streets of the Pacific Northwest. By 1998, I was burned out and starting a new creative career.
The power of a good shirt as a canvas never left me, and after discovering my vintage shirts in resale shops from Tokyo to NYC, I decided to bring them back for a limited run.
FINDING THE SHOW
This show is taking place in the Sellwood neighborhood of Portland, Oregon, on (of all things) the pickleball courts in the reception area of this church (below).
The exhibition is not affiliated with the church, but they graciously allowed me to exhibit because I play pickleball here almost daily (you can actually play during the show). It’s a cool space, two blocks from my house, and it has room for me to display a lot of work!
