Bot Murals Inside Your Home

This month I was commissioned to create an interior wall Bot cut out for a private home. The owner wanted a giant Joy Bot in the their upstairs hallway that could be removed if they ever changed locations. This posed some creative challenges: How could I make an 11 foot Bot in my studio? What material would we make this out of so it was light enough to instal? How do we attach the Bot and make sure it stays in place?

We designed the Joy Bot in modules from 1/4 inch plywood. Creating separate pieces for the head, torso and arms. This made painting in the studio much easier and allowed for a simple installation on the interior wall.

We landed on the inspirational question of “How will you find joy today?” This is what now greets this family of 4 as they descend the stairs every morning to start their day.
